Spring Equinox & Mars in Aries: What Does it Mean for You?

There are important transitions into the sign of Aries right around the corner.

Mars moves into Aries, the sign of the Ram and the first sign in the zodiac, on March 12.
This transition will lend energy and vitality to the world at large. It’s unfortunate that this transition happens when Saturn is still retrograde, because Saturn’s retrograde encourages you to wait before beginning new ventures (and it doesn’t go direct until June 8). Still, we have all the many benefits of Mars in Aries until April 20, so let’s take a peak at a few of them.
Mars relates to your ability to achieve, to your energy level and also to aggressiveness. Aries is ruled by Mars, so this placement is not only natural, but ideal. Mars residing temporarily in its own sign highlights all Aries attributes, both positive and negative.

If you were thinking of beginning a cleanse for Spring, now is the time to do just that because Aries loves physical exercise and healthy habits.

Beware, though, of going overboard and expecting everyone else around you to participate, or expecting so much from yourself that you begin a negative cycle of guilt rather than one of wellness.
Also beware of Aries and Mars joint tendency to cause unnecessary arguments (this is further exaggerated by Saturn’s retrograde). Instead, use this time to remember that while we might not always agree with those around us, we can learn from others rather than butting heads.
I mentioned that Aries is the first astrological sign. This helps explain Aries’ childish enthusiasm for the world around when all things become intoxicatingly new and gloriously fun. Think of this Mars transition as the perfect opportunity to stop and smell the roses.
All of this will be further exaggerated when the Sun joins Mars in Aries (Spring Equinox) on March 20. Energy, both physical and mental, surges with this additional Aries powerhouse transition; especially because the Sun naturally rules Leo, another fire sign, making this placement astrologically cozy as well.
On the other hand, your own Mars and Sun sign placements in your natal chart are important for more detailed information, as this is general for society at large. Regardless, this spring will bring a renewed sense of can-do attitude for all.
I, for one, don’t rush life—including the cold weather and these drizzly end of Winter days—but I can’t help feeling excited about this dazzling, positive energy that’s coming soon.
Happy almost spring!
